The Cooperative of the Charity and Intajouna
As part of its activities to support inhabitants of rural areas, the Cooperative of the Charity has agreed with « Le Charcutier-Aoun » supermarket to sell Intajouna products in all its branches. Moreover, these products were presented at the food fair that took place in Dubai, end of February 2009. (See Echoes 16 and 19)
Intajouna sold in Aoun supermarkets
Since Saturday, January 21st, 2009, Intajouna’s products prepared by the Cooperative of Charity, are sold in Aoun Supermarket’s 12 branches. Moreover, aiming at internationally marketing these products, Caritas Lebanon took part at the French food fair, SIAL 2008, last October and will attend Dubai’s Gulfood - Emirates International Salon Culinaire and Restaurant & Cafe Middle East on February 23 and 24, 2009.
Sewing workshop in Miyeh Miyeh
In order to offer job opportunities to women of the area, a sewing workshop was launched in Miyeh Miyeh (Saida Caza), on August 8, 2008. It is located in premises offered by the Saint-Georges Church Wakf, in the St George School.
Exhibition room in Deir el Ahmar
An exhibition and sales room for food products prepared by local inhabitants has been inaugurated in Deir el Ahamr, on Augst 24, 2008. This project, financed by the Italian cooperation, is being implemented in the Zahleh-Baalbeck-North Bekaa area and is aiming at involving women in the reconstruction and developemnt process through some targeted groups of the Village Banks. Also, seven production centers have been equiped by food processing machines, according to each area and village’s needs (Fakha, Jdeidet, Iaat, Chlifa, Btedi, Deir El Ahmar and Ferzol).
